Shortly before Tucker Carlson’s abrupt departure from Fox News, he delivered a public speech that is now going viral.

Political commentator Benny Johnson shared the video to Twitter. “Great speech,” one person responded.

“He is speaking the truth,” another person said. WATCH:

President Donald Trump reacted to news of Tucker Carlson’s abrupt departure from Fox News, calling it a “big blow” to America and cable news.

“Tucker was insightful, interesting, and ratings gold. He will be greatly missed!” Trump said. “I’m shocked,” Trump explained. “I’m surprised. He’s a very good person and a very good man.”

“Tucker’s been terrific, especially over the last year or so,” Trump added.

Fox Corporation shares dropped after the media company announced the departure of star host Tucker Carlson, according to CBS. Fox shares closed 3% lower after dropping as much as 5% earlier in the day.

Carlson is leaving Fox News despite being the top-rated host for the network with 334,000 viewers in the coveted 25- to 54-year-old demographic. This is a bigger audience than other Fox News hosts.

“Fox News’s stock is crashing today following their announcement that they are parting ways with Tucker Carlson,” journalist Laura Loomer said.

Inside sources told Mediaite that Tucker Carlson’s departure from Fox News was not voluntary despite the company’s statement that they “have agreed to part ways.”

“Agreement” to part ways is not the most accurate way to describe the situation, according to multiple unnamed sources. 53-year-old Carlson, who had been at the network for 14 years, was forced out by the powers above him.

“He was totally surprised,” one source told Mediaite. “He had no idea.”

“It was a firing,” another Fox News insider said.

This explanation about an unexpected firing would make more sense because Carlson ended his final episode of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Friday by telling his viewers, “We’ll be back on Monday.”

The entire newsroom at Fox News is reportedly “in a state of shock” as the news “hit like a bomb.”

The real reason is unknown why Carlson is departing. He will not get a chance to bid farewell to his viewers on air. Pulling in millions of viewers, Carlson was regularly ranked as the number one show on cable news.

It’s widely speculated that Rupert Murdoch and his team are making major changes at Fox News following its historic lawsuit settlement of $787.5 million with Dominion Voting Systems.

In the lawsuit, Fox News was accused of falsely claiming Dominion Voting Systems caused problems related to voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. This was the biggest media payout in history.

“We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” the network said. “Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21st.”

Fox News will air a different show at 8 pm/ET and rotate different Fox News personalities until a host is named.

“This is the biggest mistake Fox has ever made,” one person responded. “I don’t know the reason for the exit but the timing couldn’t be worse for Fox.”

Last week, popular Fox News anchor and commentator Dan Bongino also officially ended his time at the network. He hosted “Unfiltered with Dan Bongino” on Saturday night.

Bongino said they were unable to agree to terms for a contract extension. Bongino was a former Secret Service agent before beginning a career in media. He reportedly has a network in the millions.

The TV and radio host confirmed there was no bad blood. They were simply unable to find a deal that worked for everyone. During his last show, Bongino said, “Folks, regretfully, last week was my last show on Fox News on the Fox News Channel.” The news was “tough” for him to announce.

“It’s tough. It’s tough to say that,” he said. “You know, I’ve been there doing hits and working there for ten years…so the show ending was tough. And I want you to know, it’s not some big conspiracy. I promise you. There’s no acrimony. This wasn’t some WWE brawl that happened. We just couldn’t come to terms on an extension,” he added.
