After the Deal Closes, Elon Musk Will Temporarily Take Over As Twitter CEO

Outspoken anti-free speech Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal will reportedly lose his job as Elon Musk is taking over the company.

In 2020, Agrawal notoriously suggested that Twitter should not be “bound by the First Amendment” while arguing for stronger censorship. Musk has publicly ridiculed Agrawal.

Musk promises to take the company private and ensure the algorithm is open source so people can trust it. The scandal-plagued social platform has been widely condemned for censoring and shadow-banning users.

According to CNBC, Musk will only serve as CEO for a few months. It’s unclear who will serve as CEO after Musk.

TechCrunch claims that Agrawal will receive a “significant compensation package” valued at $38.7 million.

When asked about Donald Trump returning to Twitter, Agrawal said,” Once the deal closes, we don’t know which direction the platform will go.”

Trump has already said that he won’t return to Twitter even if permitted because he has created his own social platform called Truth Social.

Musk is expected to cut the salaries of executives and board members.

“Board salary will be $0 if my bid succeeds,” Musk said, which would save the company $3 million annually.

He’s also argued that Twitter has “too many engineers not doing enough.”

It’s widely speculated that Musk intends to reduce the size of the workforce at Twitter and potentially turn the San Francisco headquarters into a homeless shelter because he says no one shows up there to work anyways.
