‘God Had A Plan For That Child’: Steph Curry’s Mom Confesses She Almost Aborted Him, But Changed Her Mind At the Clinic

Stephen Curry is considered by many people to be the best shooter in NBA history as he hold the record for the most NBA 3-point shots ever made. He recently surpassed Ray Allen’s record not long ago.

Sitting down for an interview with Pastor Luke Norsworthy, Steph’s mother Sonya explained how this almost never came to fruition. We posted the video below.

In her book titled Fierce Love, Sonya says she was considering an abortion while pregnant with Steph, but changed her mind while at a Planned Parenthood clinic.

“I respect her vulnerability and honesty to talk about some of the toughest moments in her story,” Norsworthy said. Watch this 2-minute clip:

“I also appreciate her humoring me comparing my struggles of watching my two cheerleaders compete at the same time with her watching her sons both play in the NBA at the same time,” he joked.

Steph currently has an estimated net worth of $160 million. He’s won three NBA championships in his career thus far.

He’s been selected to the NBA All-Star team eight times and he’s been awarded the NBA’s “Most Valuable Player” award twice.

Total Pro Sports also commented on the story:

It is almost inconceivable to think that the world was so close to never knowing who Stephen Curry is and what he became in the NBA.

We know that because his mother, Sonya Curry, did not plan to have him when she did and it almost led her down the road to having an abortion.

Curry is officially the best shooter in NBA history after passing Ray Allen’s record for the most NBA 3-point shots ever made. He is credited with revolutionizing basketball by inspiring teams and players to routinely utilize the three-point shot. If you see anybody shooting from an NBA logo or just any logo, that is all Curry.

Curry is the son of former NBA player Dell Curry, who is currently going through a nasty divorce with Sonya after their marriage fell apart. The couple — whose other son, Seth, plays for the Brooklyn Nets — had been dating for decades and were officially married way back in 1988.
