Fox News reported that two individuals were arrested at the Civic Center Motor Inn in San Francisco, CA for using a hotel that is part of the San Francisco’s Alternative Housing program to help homeless individuals during the pandemic, to manufacture meth.

It is unknown if the two individuals are connected to the Alternative Housing program, or if any participants of the program are connected to the room targeted in the investigation.

Local authorities were notified of a “strong chemical odor emanating from a guest room.” and responded to the hotel at approximately 2:30 PM.

A spokesperson for the SFPD stated ““Officers conducted an investigation and discovered chemicals known to make narcotics, which were isolated to one guest room,”

“Two adults were arrested for narcotics related charges, some of which are possession of controlled substances, possession of controlled substances for sales, manufacturing controlled substances, and conspiracy.” the spokesperson continued.

San Francisco’s Alternative Housing programs has been providing shelters for members of the homeless community and first responders that require periodic housing throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

The Mayor’s office and the city’s Department of Emergency Management did not immediately respond to requests for comment Wednesday.
