Fox News reports, Democratic Missouri congressional candidate Cori Bush suggested that the government should defund the U.S. Department of Defense in addition to defunding the police.

Bush tweeted, “If you’re having a bad day, just think of all the social services we’re going to fund after we defund the Pentagon.”

Ilhan Omar retweeted Bush’s comment.

The concept is parallel to the redirection of funds from the state and law enforcement to be used for social programs.

Bush will face Republican Anthony Rogers and Libertarian Alex Furman in the general election.

From Fox News:

Bush’s post was retweeted by Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and drew support from People for Bernie, a group supporting democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.

Rogers, a comedian and podcaster, said Bush “might be a little slow” after seeing her call to defund the Pentagon.
