Former President Donald Trump is soliciting input from supporters on who should be his vice presidential running mate if he runs for president again in 2024.

Through a campaign email, Trump ruled out Mike Pence and Nikki Haley as options and asked supporters to suggest names or take a survey with questions about important issues, background, and qualifications for the role.

“I’m humbly asking for your response before the day ends,” the email read. “I don’t want to make my pick without reading your thoughts first!”

“Before I select the next Vice President, I need YOUR ADVICE!” the email added. “I want to hear from YOU.”

“What are the top issues my VP should focus on?”

“Should my VP be a government official or political outsider?”; Should my VP be a person of faith?”; “Should my VP be a military veteran?”; and “If you had 5 minutes with me, tell me why that person is your next VP,” it read.

The email lists potential candidates like Tim Scott, Elise Stefanik, Kristi Noem, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

It aims to gather over 200,000 responses as part of Trump’s vetting process, with securing the border cited as the top issue respondents want the VP to focus on.

The unusual move shows Trump wants grassroots input before making his selection next year, as is typical close to the Republican National Convention.
