Many Christians interpret Biblical scripture to mean abortion is immoral.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is learning this lesson from San Francisco archbishop Salvatore Cordileone. Pelosi represents California’s 12th district, which includes San Francisco.
In a message to Catholics like Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi, Cordileone says, “You cannot be a good Catholic and support expanding a government-approved right to kill innocent human beings.”
Biden and Pelosi have condemned Texas’s new abortion law.
The new law in Texas prevents abortions after a human heartbeat is detected.
After the Supreme Court declined to halt Texas’ abortion law, Democrats are lashing out.
Liberals apparently want women to have the choice to abort unborn children who have a heartbeat.
This takes place when the unborn child is about five or six weeks old in gestational age.
Democrats are reiterating their calls to pack the Supreme Court, Fox News reports.
Democrats used to argue that abortion should be “safe, legal, and rare.”
However, the Democrat party has largely abandoned this belief and instead supports late-term abortion. Even former President Barack Obama is accused of “supporting infanticide” when he opposed Illinois legislation that would have defined any aborted fetus that showed signs of life as a “born alive infant” entitled to legal protection, even if doctors believe he or she could not survive.
This isn’t the first time that Pelosi has been criticized by Cordileone. He once called Pelosi the “epitome of hypocrisy” when she actually used her Catholic faith to defend abortion.
Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone brutally rebuked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over comments she made claiming to be a “devout Catholic” while defending taxpayer-funded abortions. Cordileone said, “Let me repeat: no one can claim to be a devout Catholic and condone the killing of innocent human life, let alone have the government pay for it.”
He continued, “The right to life is a fundamental – the most fundamental – human right, and Catholics do not oppose fundamental human rights.”
“To use the smokescreen of abortion as an issue of health and fairness to poor women is the epitome of hypocrisy: what about the health of the baby being killed?”

More recently, Cordileone spoke out in the Washington Post days after a new law that prohibits abortion after a fetal heartbeat can be detected went into effect in Texas.
Here’s what he had to say via National Review:
On Sunday, Cordileone wrote of Catholics’ duty to challenge Catholic politicians who support abortion.
“This summer, we provoked an uproar by discussing whether public officials who support abortion should receive the sacrament of the Eucharist,” Cordileone wrote. “We were accused of inappropriately injecting religion into politics, of butting in where we didn’t belong.”
“I see matters differently,” he said. “When considering what duties Catholic bishops have with respect to prominent laymen in public life who openly oppose church teachings on abortion, I look to this country’s last great human rights movement — still within my living memory — for inspiration on how we should respond.”
Cordileone recounted how former New Orleans archbishop Joseph Rummel admitted black students to seminary, ordered an end to segregation throughout the archdiocese of New Orleans and the removal of “colored” signs from churches. Rummel also shut down a church over its refusal to accept a black priest and excommunicated several people who supported segregation.
In the past, Cordileone explained, “What about giving poor women real choice, so they are supported in choosing life? This would give them fairness and equality to women of means, who can afford to bring a child into the world. It is people of faith who run pro-life crisis pregnancy clinics; they are the only ones who provide poor women life-giving alternatives to having their babies killed in their wombs.”
He concluded, “I cannot be prouder of my fellow Catholics who are so prominent in providing this vital service. To them I say: you are the ones worthy to call yourselves ‘devout Catholics’!”
At a press conference, Pelosi reportedly stated that while she feels “blessed” to be a “devout Catholic” mother of five, she does not believe it is her place to prevent poor women from having abortions.
Pelosi added, “Because it’s an issue of health of many women in America, especially those in lower-income situations, and different states, and it is something that has been a priority for many of us a long time.”
