Dems’ Boycott Blows Up in Their Face, Texas Governor Signs Controversial Election Integrity Bill

Democrats have taken desperate measures in Texas to prevent election reform. It didn’t work.

Texas has demonstrated its commitment to eliminate voter fraud and ensure election integrity.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed the bill called “SB 1” following a months-long battle with Democrats.

This election security bill will set new rules for mail-in voting.

The bill also increased the number of partisan poll watchers and gave the state more control of local voting operations.

Following the 2020 general election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, there has been widespread speculation about mail-in voter fraud throughout the country.

Lacking any reasonable or intellectual response, erratic Democrats in Texas fled to Washington, D.C. and refused to show up for legislative sessions.

Since they refused to show up for another special legislative session, this stopped the session from proceeding.

This violated the Texas Constitution and, pursuant to Article III in Section 10, Texas has powers to compel the attendance of absent members in the manner provided under the House Rules of Procedure.

Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan officially signed civil arrest warrants for 52 House Democrats.

The Washington Post reported, “Phelan spokesman Enrique Marquez said warrants were signed for 52 Democrats who failed to return during the fifth day of the House’s second special session, leaving the chamber eight members short of a quorum.”

In a lower court, a Democrat state district judge issued an order prohibiting their arrest.

However, the Texas Supreme Court has voided this lower court ruling that blocked the arrests of the Democrats who don’t show up for the year’s second special legislative session. This handed Gov. Abbott a major victory.

Democrats who are arrested would not face criminal charges and could not be jailed or fined, the report says.

An Abbott spokeswoman said, “The Supreme Court of Texas swiftly rejected this dangerous attempt by Texas Democrats to undermine our Constitution and avoid doing the job they were elected to do. We look forward to the Supreme Court upholding the rule of law and stopping another stall tactic by the Texas Democrats.”

Democrats preferred to take an expensive trip the Washington D.C., rather than confront the question surrounding election integrity in their home state.

In the end, Democrats lost in this battle as Republicans successfully passed and signed the law

Those efforts came to an end last week after the Texas House passed the bill 80-41, with the Texas Senate voting 19-13 in favor of the new law. Both votes were almost completely along party lines.

The governor signaled his intention to sign the legislation shortly after it passed in the legislature.

“Senate Bill 1 will solidify trust and confidence in the outcome of our elections by making it easier to vote and harder to cheat. I look forward to signing Senate Bill 1 into law, ensuring election integrity in Texas,” Abbott said in a statement.

Republicans have argued the bill is a necessary step to put a stop to voter fraud in the state and boost voter confidence in the integrity of elections.

Republicans have argued the bill is a necessary step to put a stop to voter fraud in the state and boost voter confidence in the integrity of elections.

“How much fraud is OK? None. How much suppression is okay? None,” said GOP state Sen. Bryan Hughes of the legislation. “That’s why Senate Bill 1 makes it easy to vote and hard to cheat.”

But Democrats claim that there is no evidence to support the notion that widespread voter fraud is a problem in the state.

“I worry that this bill is going to take our state down a very dangerous slippery slope. And I think that this narrative is dangerous, this narrative that there’s widespread fraud with no evidence. I think it’s damaging to our democracy,” Democratic state Sen. Cesar Blanco argued.
