‘It Is A COUP’: Trump Claims Impeachment Effort Is Intending To Take Away People’s Voting Power

President Trump said he’s gotten to the bottom of why Democrats are seeking to impeach him: they want to undo the results of the 2016 presidential election and strip Americans of their “God-given rights.”

Perhaps more importantly, the president claimed in a tweet on Tuesday evening that the “coup” was intending to undermine the vote and power of citizens in the country who supported and continue to support him.

“As I learn more and more each day, I am coming to the conclusion that what is taking place is not an impeachment, it is a COUP,” Trump tweeted, “intended to take away the Power of the People, their VOTE, their Freedoms, their Second Amendment, Religion, Military, Border Wall, and their God-given rights as a Citizen of the United States of America.”

The Washington Examiner reports:

His tweets come amid the political furor of the impeachment inquiry House Democrats have opened, stemming from a July 25 phone call Trump made with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky. Some allege his request that Ukraine investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, a political rival in the 2020 election, and his son Hunter for potential corruption is an impeachable offense.

Trump and Republican leadership have used similar language to denounce the alleged machinations by some members of the Justice Department during the Mueller investigation.

In another tweet, Trump described the Democratic push as “the greatest witch hunt in the history of our country.”

According to the report, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich described the latest Democratic push for impeachment as “a new gimmick” after the party failed in their attempt to bring Trump down with the Russian investigation.

Collusion. Conspiracy. Obstruction. Russian Puppet. Ukraine.

This list is likely to lengthen before the 2020 presidential election.
