President Joe Biden has gone to Congress to seek the approval of $106 billion in funding for Israel and Ukraine, along with aid to be sent to the southern border of the U.S.

The request would send over $60 billion to Ukraine, more than $14 billion to Israel, and would include over $9 billion sent to Ukraine, Israel, and Gaza for humanitarian means.

GOP lawmakers have questioned the reasoning behind the need to send such extensive resources to Ukraine, and the Biden Administration has put them in a difficult position by lumping the Ukrainian dollars in with aid to Israel.

“It is the president’s job, our job, to make clear to Congress what the needs are, what happens if this critical funding is not delivered,” Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young stated. “We are doing our job by letting Congress know what these critical needs are and we expect them to act and act swiftly.”

National security adviser Jake Sullivan emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin “is betting that the United States will walk away from defending its democratic partner Ukraine, walk away from a coalition of countries that it has built over the last 18 months.”

Putin additionally has stated that Ukraine would be done within a week if the U.S. pulled its aid.

Over $13.5 billion has been allocated from the aid package to be sent to the southern border, where Biden’s open-border policies have led to complete chaos.
