A co-defendant in former President Donald Trump’s election interference case has accepted a plea deal that will require him to testify in the case.

Kenneth Chesebro pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit filing of false documents, and will be fined $5,000, along with being placed on five years’ probation.

The plea deal is the first felony plea, despite two other defendants accepting minor deals.

“How do you plead to Count 15, conspiracy to commit filing false documents…?” the prosecutor questioned Chesebro.

“Guilty,” Chesebro answered.

Chesebro’s lawyer said the deal was simply “too good to turn down.”

“He gets to go home to his family now … and not spend one day in jail,” lawyer Scott Grubman stated. “He was facing very, very serious charges.”

Trump’s Georgia lawyer Steve Sadow said it should be recognized that the DA was willing to drop the racketeering charge that Chesebro was accused of.

“It is very important for everyone to note that the RICO [racketeering] charge … was dismissed,” Sadow pressed.

“I fully expect that truthful testimony would be favorable to my defense strategy.”
