Following a unanimous House GOP vote, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) is now third-in-line to the president as the newly elected House Speaker.

Former President Donald Trump voiced his enthusiasm over the matter, noting that “he is a tremendous man.”

“I just want to congratulate Mike Johnson. He will be a great Speaker of the House, and we were very happy to help. I’ve known him for a long time. He is a tremendous leader. He is a tremendous man,” Trump pressed. (Poll: Who Should Win the Presidency In 2024? VOTE)

“He comes from a wonderful place, Louisiana … He’s going to be a great speaker – I think you’re going to be very proud of him.”

Johnson (R-LA) gave glory to God following his being elected as Speaker, which was confirmed following an unanimous Republican vote, which had not occurred in 12 years.

“I want to tell all my colleagues here what I told the Republicans in that room last night; I don’t believe there are any coincidences in a matter like this,” Johnson began.

“I believe that Scripture, the Bible, is very clear that God is the one that raises up those in authority. He raised up each of you, all of us, and I believe that God has ordained and allowed each one of us to be brought here for this specific moment in this time,” he said in reference to Romans chapter 13 of the Bible.
